You could argue that if the scientists that made medical discoveries weren't street smart, they wouldn't have lived long enough to be medically/scientifically smart.

Being street smart would include being people smart, so yeah while it might not directly help you if you're studying how to cure cancer or aids, but it will help you get that job or promotion, and make your career a much smoother ride.

Street smart is also common sense, logic, and experience (wisdom?), these are vital to success for anyone and you don't usually get this kind of knowledge in a class, or from reading a school book.

I consider these things: common sense, logic, real life experience, and people skills much more important then how well you can memorize notes or knowing history.

BUT HEY, that's just me. But really, I know what you're trying to say, but I don't think you understood what I mean by street smarts. Yes, I do think the educational system is lacking and overrated.

While those things are important - they definitely are not MORE important... if you're stupid you still wont be able to do anything. You could be a completely anti-social spaz and become filthy rich by starting your own business or just being the best at whatever you do.

if you're stupid you wouldn't be getting a job as a typical american (or whatever capitalistic scumbag country you wanna choose) financial superstar anyway. just about everyone has at least something they're good at, and they can at least get themselves a decent job with whatever smarts they have and some good street smarts. even the anti social person needs to have experience and common sense to make it big in his/her own business. but chances are, if you don't work well with others, you won't get a job from someone else.

plus, if you're completely street smart (all street smart no book smart), you can be a salesman, and they can make some big bucks too.
