Details and Updates
Hey everyone,
I know everyone is patiently waiting for news and updates and as we have promised to be as active as possible, and to keep you guys in the loop as much as possible here is the breakdown on how things are going.
As everyone knows we entered into negotiations to license Endless Ages (Gold Version). Everything was going fine until we were informed that because the Gold Version of Endless Ages is built into the Engine itself (The Aura Engine) we'd be licensing more then just game itself, the Engine would have to included as well. This has put us in a completely different situation as we are now looking at licesning the actual game and engine. This of course is more expensive and requires a bit more work then before.
Because of all this it has significantly changed our deal and so our entire original negotiation was useless. We are now re-negotiating the deal and hope to come to an agreement to purchase or license both the game and Engine. Now because of this it is taking more time but is good news in the long run. With the engine we now have the ability to make any kind of changes to the game that we want, create as many addons as we want and easily fix any bugs found in the game.
We hope to close the deal on the Engine and the game as soon as possible but were most likely looking at another month or more before the game is online for beta testing.
On another note, here are some exact details of what version of the game we will be running and some more info about other enhancements we intend on adding.
Version: "Gold" version of the game, no graphical enhancements from Beta.
All characters will be spawning in there initial "city's". In other words, Humans in Human City, Blobs in Blobic Colony and Frogs on AP Island. The first tutorial area will be used and boom town will not exist initially. We plan to bring back Boom Town and add the Air Kingdom and Kingdoms expansion to the game at a later date, but without the new character models.
None of your old characters, accounts or information will exist. The databases still exist but we are unable to obtain them due to security related issues.
As for GM's, we will of course be looking to the community for GM's and intend on opening applications for GM's toward the end of beta. We are also looking for forum moderators for the site, if you feel like you are responsible enough to handle the job of being a forum moderator, feel free to send an email to support@endless-ages.com with information on why you'd be a good moderator.
If you guys have any other questions, please feel free to ask them and we'll answer them as best as we can!
Once again, thanks to everyone for their patience and long live Endless Ages!

Kind of figured it was the game and engine deal again. That's the way (he) rolls.
But, if I may, you're buying the license for the game and engine or just that? Wouldn't ownership of that stuff have been purchased by RR? Not trying to start anything, just asking a question.

Your question is of course welcomed oogie.
RR did not buy any engine, or license for any engine. They in fact only paid for Aaron to create phylon and the phylone engine for them, however no one owns phylon or the phylon engine anymore and its somewhat stuck in "limbo" now because the investors pulled the plug on phylon and destroyed the company.
So to answer your question, no, Aaron and his partners (******* LLC, soon to be ******* Inc) are the owners of the Engine and game.
On another note, we are not buying a license for the engine or the game, we are buying both of them.
Also, Oog, there is no reason to be negative when referring to Aaron, he is after the genius who created this game and is a very good business man. I have much respect for him, and Justin both.

I must say this is great news...I look forward and only forward when it comes to EA. I always knew EA had more to offer and was casted outward at its end. Even after the months of playing all the OTHER games I alwayse Googled Endlessa Ages looking for that last ditch hope of the game comming back. Now look!!! we are on the brink of playing the greatest game on earth once more, I just want to say Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!!

Being that the version is gold, i.e. pre graphic-enhancements, pre old-boomtown. Would this also mean that it is not the SQL database driven engine?
If so, all of the quests written for AK, BT1, BT2, Starter Zone, would be gone. Not that I mind, I'm just asking.

Another three questions,
First; will we be able to keep beta created characters (maybe stupid question, but hey..)
Second; how are you going to finance this? In other words, will we have to pay a monthly subscribtion, or will you rely on donations or whatever? How is this going to work. It's not that I am against paying or anything of course, I'm just curious, is there an estimate?
Third; how will you decide what to add to the game and what not to? Will you do it alone with your development team, or will there be some sort of democratic way to vote (in other words; comunity has power just like we used to). That would be great ofcourse, but if in any other way I can accept that ofcourse.
Thanks for all the hard work man, apreciate it! xx

Mind, it does use an SQL Database Back end (MSSQL) for storing account and character information.
Deslaw,
1> Most likely we will wipe characters at the end of the 1 month beta test, the reason is because we will drastically up the level rates, money rates etc and will be allowing players to test all aspects of the game.
2> There will be a monthly, 9.99 subscription fee to play the game, there will be absolutely no free area in the game. We will however have a 1 week trial like the game had originally. We will also have a web based item mall where you can buy things with real money like Houses, Castles, armor pieces etc.. the web based item mall however will not have the top of the line armor and weapons on it for sale, it will instead have items like Lv 12 items such as poldas set and maybe lv14 weapons. We will also have funny items on the item mall, like alternative jet packs (such as big angel wings for your back) that can only be gotten on the mall/via events but give you no real benefit other then looking "cool".
All of this however is subject to change

Did I say anything negative about him? There folks go again, putting words in my mouth and thinking the worst of what I'm trying to say. ..........
edit: He did the same thing with ExCore-- factual not negative.
