Stuck Command
Ok my idea comes from an MMO I played called Anarchy Online, and it is usefull for the people getting stuck in the map.
In this other MMO, if you got stuck somewhere, and say you couldnt jump out or if you didn't have a flying vehicle, you could sit down (you could sit to go afk, or log out) and type in /Stuck in the chat bar. You would then wait 30 seconds for your character to be unstuck by the game, it would pretty much auto correct where you were, and put you in a new location close to where you got stuck, but out of where you got stuck. in this case, since you get stuck under or in the map, you could code something like If User=Location X=###, Y=###, Z=### and If User text= /Stuck, Then Move Player= X=###, Y###, Z### or something like that, im not very good with coding and such. but it would essentially Move the person to be equal with a spot above the terrain, so that they could fly away from that area and go on with their business. it would be useful for now, untill you guys get all the holes fixed, or if someone fell into a hole that they couldnt get out of because they were trying to get to their bodies from death.

the only way to get it to work with if(x == whatever, y == whatever, z == whatever) then you'd have to go through every single possibility. The easiest way i can think of would be to send it to your rebirth spot or to send it to a spot above the highest point on the map so it works no matter what. Granted I don't know much about coding in graphics and what not.

well if rebirth spot was idiotically made under map :-P, preset coordinates to somewhere above ground, so /stuck = move char to these coords. (depending on map)

hmm, then you could do the stuck command so that it puts you above the highest hill in the game, or the highest object in citys and such, so that it would drop you from there.

yea, point taken about the rebirth issue. high point in map would work for most maps. CoA and such places would have more of a problem, each section of the map would need it's own point. Or the easy way out again would be just send back to the beginning.

Sending a player back to the beginning of a zone might be exploited for use as a faster way of transportation.
How about a "/stuck" command that would set your respawn point a few feet above you? If you were still stuck, another use of /stuck could be used.

Most games that use stuck command use a time limit like 5 minuts or so, that way it can't be exploited. And just teleport you to the closest town or something. Much much simpler.

so then when your stuck your not stuck in the bottom of the map, and remain stuck in a single space? or is it something like in UT2004 if you glitched to the bottom of the map (some maps its fun to do on), you would fall to the bottom, and would have no way of getting back up unless you suicided, or if you were really lucky and an admin spawned a flying vehicle for you. otherwise the highest point in the map is probably the only fix for it for a stuck command, and individual places like BM mapped out for the stuck command. it would acctually be easier if you could somehow place the whole map on a grid, locate the coords of each grid to its highest point, and then if you got stuck, make it teleport you above the place in which you got stuck, but just a little higher so you can fly away.

Problem with the /stuck command moving your rebirth spot up would be repeated use to move the spot OUT of the map through the ceiling-- new way to clip

They could set coordinate boundaries of where u cant use the stuck command IE: Inside the actual map.

That's really conditional though, you'd have to program all the possibilities for it.

If jason could get ahold of some of the developers from Funcom (the guys who made anarchy online with the stuck command), he could ask them how they did it and if he could do it, because it is a useful tool, but might be hard to code and all.

If the porting destination varies depending on the place you type the command, it would be pretty hard to code. This command should only be used as a last resort, where theres absolutely NO other option, and ppl shouldnt use it as means of transportation/exploit.
I would suggest making the wait period MUCH longer, like 5-10mins, and make it teleport you to a static position (easier for the devs im sure), like newbie zone for example.

Well,
One possibility mabe to have a very small safe zone or vault etc. and no matter where you are at you would be snt to this location when stuck, you could be sent back to nearest vault nearest you but any where is better then being stuck. lol ND jp might also be nice in the near future.

the 5-10 min idea was also in AO, where you had to wait 5 min to use it again. the only possiblity i see of this being implemented now since the world isnt mapped out using coords and such, is to teleport people back to the begining of dungeon if they are doing quest, or to the entrance of the colony that they origionated from. And, a thought occured to me: if the world was mapped out with coordinates, you could make the stuck command put you at the nearest flat space (I.E. Ifuser=stuck then teleportuser=x=0, y=0, z=***) that way its easier to do than make many lines of code for it.

Oooh, something else, if you have a timer of like, 15 seconds, and it remembers the spot you were in every 5 secs so if you fall through the map you can use the command and get ported back 15 seconds.

as great of an idea that is Blank, that might not work, unless you made it remember your position for at least 2 or 3 minutes, clearing each 5 seconds as you go, so that it wouldnt take up too much memory. the only way i see it not working is if someone were to be stuck for 3 minutes b4 the stuck command was used, in which case a GM would have to come. however it does make the job a lot easier for the GM's and such.

uh.. I played SRO .. SIlkroad ONline.. And if you got stuck or something.. you typed in /town.. each town had their own special rebirth place.. so mabey there could be like 2 rebirths..
1. Trendor
2. Amphibious Island
3. Blobic Colonies
4. Firetown
5. Four Falls..
Each time you zoned there would be an NPC, or a like stone or something that you rebirthed your town against..
You would just have to type :REBIRTH for a normal rebirth.. but say your normal rebirth keeps getting you stuck.. then you would have your town rebirth.. which hopefully isnt bugged either..

That could be exploited.

AJ, thats the stupidest idea of all time....... Why are you trying to make EA into a gay game like Silkroad?
There are things in Endlessages called "safezones"..... I am sure you are familiar with them
If any thing... When you die you should spawn 15-20 feet above the area that you REBIRTHed on.

but your completely missing the point AJ. as explained above, it could be exploited to get out of dungeons quicker. I did forget to mention that in AO, there was a 30 second timer before it acctually got you unstuck, and i think it did that in that game because it had to think or something like that. otherwise, a 30 sec timer would counteract exploition.
