Remove the mob autodeath !!!

What the point of this crappy "feature", there is no pros, only cons.

It is VERY UPSETING when the mob you have been shooting for 15 mins dies because you get out of sight trying to grap you corpse, or rebirthed too far or anything else. Now when you hunt, you always have to check how far you are from the mob if you don't want it to stupidly die.

This feature MUST be removed.

Make mobs de aggro when out of sight, anything you want, but remove autodeath or increase sight range

lol..this has happened to me too when going up against a rune boss...
17 mins. into the battle he gets closer to me and falls - dies - respawn and then back to where started, though i cant complain when its giving me stats. then again its quite annoying when he dies 4 times in a row before actually beating him..woot another one bites the dust

i agree but not with the range of sight....many of the mobs have wayyyyyy to long ranges of sight...like clidions and mad kidions fr example...they see me from across the entire island of BM. also dj's range of aggro is still a bit long i think...i could be wrong with this b/c of the tiny aggro range in beta but it just doesnt feel right to see a mob so far away shooting at you

If you're gay the hovering vags (vages?) will leave you alone, they know when they can't get it up.

That's my third Pridion that autodie although i'm just 2 feet away from him. This is very frustrating especially when you have to kill it to exit !!!

Pridion has a real problem, he "autodies" for seemingly no reason at all. That's the third in a row doing it to me now, it's kind of hard since too close = he kills you, and too far = he autodies...

edit : val had it autodying even at close range... so that's a problem of blocked sight or something... but it's not time-related either, it was way too fast to happen.

Yes, I was killing Pridion earlier. I happened to be helping a friend with it, and it despawned while we were (both) shooting it. Then I tried killing it solo, and I stopped to type a few lines (quite fast) and it ended up despawning again. I had to shoot it constantly to finally kill it.

About that mad kidion on MR, it may have been chasing you around a bit before you noticed it. I usually don't see it when I'm traveling there, usually to or from FT (or get it agrod) but I went flying around there with a razor once. It flies above the treetops making it harder to see, and possibly giving you a nice surprise if you happen to be under it. Side note- mad kidions used to hit fire damage, but they've fixed it with the recent patch. It hits normal now, so you don't need a grision to kill one.

As for clidions, they don't seem to have a large agro radius. But if you do agro one, it will follow you for long distances. It doesn't seem to deagro much. You can agro the one on BM island to one side of the island, rush all the way over to the other, and find a clidion running at you a minute later (unless you don't find it, and die).

The rancons haven't been a problem for me at all. Maybe I just kill them quickly enough with a grision orb. They despawn if you let them sink in the water and don't continue shooting them though.

I think I covered every mob mentioned so far.
Also, in my opinion, mobs should despawn if you die while killing them. If a mob kills you, you're defeated and couldn't succeed in killing the mob first. To go back and try again after its hp is lowered isn't exactly fair. If it didn't despawn at all, any relatively weak player can rebirth nearby and keep bringing its hp down (while dying constantly) until the mob dies. It's slower, but still not quite right. Although the eyezora for 13aq didn't despawn on me. I was lazy to get my grision to full hp and decided to try with 200. I died at least 10 times before I killed it.

And here's one of the best (or really, worse) examples of where the despawning thing has to be changed. The ashcerions in the stone maze... I was doing the hoverbike quest, and was going after that gem chest in there. I didn't have a kandra orb at the time and couldn't use my grision yet, so I tried pidion. While some people may not believe this, a pidion/grision has a chance of passing an ashcerion in those hallways. As long as it's alive, you can squeeze through with a little momentum. Or just navigate around them. The main problem is, they tend to despawn a lot. And then the corpse doesn't disappear for a few minutes, unlike some other mobs. It's extremely annoying when a few ashcerions despawn in front of you, block your way completely, and you have to shoot the corpse to 0 hp and then loot it to get it to disappear. And meanwhile, there are more ashcerions slowly draining your hp, and possibly despawning right there. Eventually a kandra orb got me through that, just for it's small size, in addition to 90 normal resistance like that pidion had. I'm not sure if a kandra can pass a dead ashcerion corpse, but 2 or 3 across a hall way could probably block it. I passed through too quickly to check.

Basically, a mob should only despawn when it loses agro.

Yea but then if you're killing a rune boss, and rune bosses are supposed to take a while to spawn back, what happens if you die and then you have to wait a while just to try to kill it again. That could easily get frustrating. Same with quest spawns, having to respawn it would be a total buzz kill.

The quest spawns, somehow, don't tend to despawn that much. I was on one of the chalis BLs for 13aq in the catacombs, and I lost a few in the water, and ended up having 3 roaming around down there. They didn't despawn until the time limit was up. As for rune bosses, whenever they despawn, they seem to respawn a little faster. The usual range is from a minute to 30 minutes (Frube has spawned within a minute on me once, when I was doing the rune gun quest. It respawned just before I looted it and killed me.) but they seem to respawn quickly more often after despawning. Or maybe just a coincidence?
I would go on to reason about how you should have skill to kill a rune boss in one go, and if you die, try again, but they seem to be a bit too easy since they aim at your feet and can easily be ledged. Zeth is sort of an exception, since aiming at your feet won't stop him from hitting you unless he flies all the way down (and maybe Pridion, as the elevation helps). By the way the floor doesn't instant kill you as I think it was supposed to. You can jump down there without agroing any crids, and strafe Zeth. A strafing sarin can kill zeth without being hit.

I do that for fun. But with training or questing, no one seems to want to take time with that.
Also, if you want to brag that you killed a rune boss with plain skill, You can't be going back to the same mob after dying.

I think thats kinda the point of autodeath.. You cant rightfully claim to have bested a mob if it killed you a bunch of times before you killed it, so you have to survive the whole fight or else it autodies, that makes sense to me....

Completely agreed, but the problem we are (or were) addressing here is mobs auto dying while we're still fighting it. The first time I killed Pridion myself, it despawned while I was shooting it 5 times before I could get the rune.
By the way, with pridion's high rate of fire, is it at all possible to kill it solo (I've heard of dragging it back and forth with a friend. That seems logical.) without an orb like grision or tilidion, and without despawning it? Seems like you need a grision orb or a friend with one every time you need an air rune.
