Quickbar needs more space
I think the quickbar needs to have more space. The current 10 slots won't do. We used to have 12 slots for Equip Item and 12 more for Use Item. That was more than double of what we have now. A frog with 4 pieces of armour, a gid, a horn, a weapon and a jetpack already takes up 8 slots. We still need slots for heals, orbs, and other weapons/armour. I mean, we used to switch around with our weapons and armour pieces to whichever suits our situation the best, depending on the channels we need, right? It'll be hard to do so with only so few quickbar slots now. Not to mention, we need space for magic too.

I agree, 10 slots aren't enough.
It doesn't matter if they are displayed on a bar or not, but we really need to be able to bind keys to more than 10 things.

Yea, we might as well get rid of the hot bar, make the hp one smaller, put it on top of the ammo/jetpack/armor bars, make the chatbox bigger and put the ammo/jp/armor/hp bars on top of the chat box, and we have a grapihcally superior version of the old chatbox thingy.

Keep the HP BAR the same size... Its easier to tell. But Chatbox needs to be teh biggaz.

my suggestion is to have multiple quick bars you can cycle through by hitting an F-function key... example ...
F9 = Quick bar 1 (add whatever set ya wnat to this one)
F10 = Quick bar 2 (add a 2nd set)
F11 = Quick bar 3 (same)
F12 = Quick bar 4 (can make one your SS bar, make one a magic bar, or have 4 differant sets you can equip.
For example... you are in your 14 armor set.. and you want to equp all of your 15 set. Hit the F-function key to show that hot bar and then hit your (Equip all bound key) or you want to use magic switch to another of your hot bars and use spells

My suggestion is just advanced key bindings. I've send this suggestion to the powers that be a couple times now.

agree.. we need advanced key bindings again but in addition this would still great for equiping differant sets all with the push of a single key.
why not have the best of both worlds.

And please make the left shift key usable again. It used to be my jetpack key trough the entire lifetime of EA so it was kind of a shock when I noticed it wasn't available anymore.

okay here is a better idea, there are 5 quickbars with 10 slots each, inorder to switch between them u use f1,f2,f3,f4,and f5. Like my Idea?

A fully mapable keyboard would be nice as well when advanced key bindings get put in, I'm not used to the ESDF with z as jetpack movement, WASD + L-shift is a lot more comfortable.

these ideas are great but also we need to be able to multi bind like in the old ea...this would be especially useful for flying with a jp..i remember my jump and use jetpack were both on spacebar and now i can only put one on it so i just never jump lol...so i think a multi-bind option would be very nice

Yeh, the multi-bind is essential for a lot of different reasons. I could see where some people would like the quick bar because it gives you a visual picture of your items and it is nice to be able to arm everything in the bar by pushing one button. However, it might be useful to be able to turn it off and on or move it to a different positions etc. (semi floating) or like windows tool bar invisible unless move over it or toggle between the two etc.
It is difficult to read chat when you are using wide screen resolutions so being able to have options is always good. (Or toggle for different views) I did like your suggestion Arma about the different bars if feasible. Anytime you can save time opening and closing your inventory and reasigning keys to items is great!

I agree, when armors and weapons increase and we get further, there is no way 10 is enough....

I think if we were able to multi-bind a whole set of armour to a single key would be cool too. then there would be lesser need of equiping the entire quickbar, which will use the orbs and heals too, or change your weapon.

I think channels should be taken out totaly like origonaly planed..
This would solve the multi-armor sets and multi gun problem that plagued us during Booster and present times.
If any thing move the health bar over to the right above/below the JP/AMMO bar, then slide another quickbar item slot into the place where the health bar was... or put the chat box so people can see it where the quickbar is, and stack the quick bar on top of the chat box..
Now that fills up a lot of space but taking up space was the whole reason for desiging the UI how it is... If you want to save space take the quickbar out totaly like it was in beta/gold/booster... Quickbar just makes it so you cant use as many items and takes up chat window space.

The only hesitance I have about removing channels, is that APs are completely ****ed up the ass afterwards. As it is, every gun up to the lvl 8 one only does a max of about 25 (for the strongest ones) with varying speeds against a normal monster, and the lvl 8 one only does about 50. At least with channels if you play your card right you can do upwards towards 30 and 40 with AP guns (and 80 to 100 for the lvl 8 gun). So some balancing with that would definately need to happen, cause there's no point in getting a new gun at lvl 2, 3, and 4 especially for a gun that will do 1-3 more dmg per shot for more expensive ammo.

Blank the frogs can be fixed when channels are taken out...
The Human Females, Human Males, and Blobics are totaly screwed with channles. If channels stay might as well take out 14 and 16 guns and just use lvl 12 guns or ws/nerv. Channels have to be taken out for the game to advance any further.

And yes, I'm fighting to get Multi Bind in game and Hide and Reveal into game since we cant even think about launching the game live until we get those

More accurately, channels have been removed in my personal build. It still needs to be done for melee and MOB armors yet, so I havn't given anything to jason

hotbars are great, mostly for memory challanged players like myself who occasionally have to look to see what is on my hotbard but a better idea would to have two or even three more hotbars. example, one where it is now, one on top of that, one down the right side of the screen, one down the left, and also allow more customize key bindings. make chat log bigger, keep life the same size, i like it i has a futuristic feel. but yeah make the chat log like partially transparent after a certain amount of time so it can be bigger without being in the way

As it is the chatbox is transparant, which is actually one of it's problems. It's a pain to see yellow font on a **** yellow background. (unless they just recently changed it, haven't gotten on in 2 days).
Though it does need to be bigger, but there's not much room to make it bigger without making something else smaller.
Being able to mod the GUI though would be nice, including changing the sizes of everything, so then people can do it all to their preference.

How bout making it so you can bind multiple items to a single hotkey? We need that for the armor sets.
And if the channels are going to be removed from the game, just make the armor sets a single item, since we wont need to arrange diff pieces of armor for suiting the environment anymore.

Yeah, armor sets should be binded to one key. Also there should be hotkey groups like if you press 1 you could get a group of weapons, 2 could be orbs and so on.
