Opposing Factions

Pvp is an important part of MMOs nowadays, and especially as an mmofps, pvp, is a must.

now there's already organized pvp battles in the Arena and i believe in unprotected areas one can attack others unprovoked...

with just about every popular mmo nowadays there's 2 or more factions, WoW has alliance and horde, Anarchy has the Clans and Omnitech, Ace online (the only other mmo somewhat considered a free mmofps) has BCU and ANI... Anyway my point is that we need something like that in EA, having towns belonged to a certain faction, the immediate areas around the towns will also be considered areas of that faction, anyone from the opposing faction in that area will of course be a target for all other players from the faction owning that town. So basically me and a friend feel like some heavy pvp so we try to infiltrate an enemy town and see how far we can go, how many enemy players we can take down before they get us. It would add alot of depth to the pvp system and the game.

Now important notes about this however:
1. classes are NOT the factions.. humans outnumber everything else so it just wont work very well..

2. make it so players can choose a side at perhaps level 12...

3. these bases/towns must not be nooby areas, they must be somewhere separate so that noobs dont complain that they are always getting pkd in their town.

4. it might be a good idea to have a big island dedicated to this pvp, and multiple towns that can be taken over by each faction, with npcs that will shoot at players of whichever faction DOESNT own the town

WOW isn't f2p u can do a small 2 week trial the main point about EA is its like NO OTHER MMORPG granted its got its problems but it doesn't need to take BIG ideas and tactics from other mmos further more pvp has never realy even been balenced...it was in the arenas where there was lvl bracets...but that was only a bit even

this game is about surprising the others....that's why there's skills like hiding and revealing the big thing is to get the best and you wwont die so fast and to get it fast involves team work which is a bit of a problem here but more ppl are still coming......

Doesnt matter if the examples I used are free to play or not (altough Ace online is free) PVP is far more exciting if there are opposing factions.
Its not a big idea, all there needs to be is a reason for the factions, a couple of new towns, and a system where you recognize members of the opposing faction (and therefore shoot on site)

Simply deciding.. "Hey i feel like killing that random dude over there who is only grinding, just because i feel like it" doesnt qualify as deep pvp

I kinda like it. It will need shapping up but it is fine in my opinion.

Maybe have 2 main Cites on a new spot (like a hole new world kinda that you can transport to). 1 of these Citys belongs to a faction and the other belongs to the other. After that their are Outposts around the world that are Very heavily guarded. When you capture the outpost the guards turn to your side and you can upgrade it kinda. When it is captured it goes back to level 1.

Each Faction has a Chest or somthing in their City. When you Capture a Outpost you make more money by the amount of Outposts you have. The money goes into a Faction Bank. and the Leader (With votes from the faction) can pick what to buy and that equipment goes to the Faction Chest for people to take. but you can only take 1 item a day. limiting it and letting others get stuff also.

As I said before it would be a diffrent world that you would have to be level 12 to teleport to. Level 12 restrictions make it so that you atleast know about PVP and you are pvp'able. Anyone not level 12 Will not be allowed in and must stay in IIA until they are. This also keeps the Older members happy. so they do not shoot someone and get ****ed cause they can't kill em.

Plus all of the Cites might have a very strong defense. They would proble have a Shield Generater Outside that prevents the other Faction from getting in. This shield generater Would be EXTREAMLY Defened. Like 5-6 Maxed out chars working togeather taking stuff down. After you take that down you can get in. And you would have to take out the Defense in the City. If you can do all of that you will be allowed to raid the Faction Chest inside and take the stuff and also Damage buildings and Kill the banker and so on so furth. just make havoc.

The Shield Generation would heal farily fast. maybe it would reach full health in a hour or half a hour. All mobs would respawn in about 10-20 minutes. really fast. But to repair the buildings you would have to have real players get in their and donate money to get it repaired. and the Faction leader would have to approve a Money Transaction to respawn the banker and so on.

This is just a brain storm. Make your comments.

my biggest problem is that even with the TP...its starting to get into other games genre.....id realy love to hope that after all these years it at least gets to a stable and growing condition BEFORE we make fundamental changes

dont get me wrong its not about the examples i just dont want to see this game on the slippery slop that a lot of games start sliding on.....everything starts blending together....can tell one from the other based solely on what characters are there.....RYL and RYL2 i thought were fun games...unique ones...till i saw others that had the same formula same lvling system even.....granted i cant remember for the life of me....not sure y RYL was in my head atm....

anywho i would be willin to help out....im just a little worried that a big change like this my drive some of the old players off....then agian if they've stuck around this long....

oh and its not ace online anymore.....its Air Rivals

Actually Air Rivals is the european version, Ace online is the whole thing :P


AAANYWAY all i'm saying, is some deeper pvp would be much better then just, anyone attacks anyone else., now just because there is 2 opposing factions it doesnt mean its going to have to be like other games that have 2 opposing factions, i mean it can be implimented in a different way.. Eliwas example, is very different for example, and i love that idea!

If this is going to happen anywhere its going to be in a different zone. And if you havent noticed, this game isnt like wow with a 30 man team. This wont happen for a long while =D

ok lets get this out of the way... all i ment with WoW as an example, was for the 2 opposing factions.. thats it.. nothing more.. i'm not a Wow addict who wants to see every game turned into wow.. so please.. no more "WoW isnt free to play" "Wow has so many players, this doesnt" or anything like that.... thank you....
