Lightbulb Ideas

Well, I've got a few ideas. EA really doesn't have many problems, but then again I wrote almost two pages on the problems of WoW, so I think I can find a few problems. Most of them are addressing a specific issue...but I'll just start listing 'em.

Problem: Money Issues.
Solution: The trading post is great, but if you guys want to make real money, you can charge something around $10 a month for new admins. Of course, they'd have to take some kind of test to prove that they can be an admin. This can also solve the "Not enough admins" problem.

Problem: Noob issues.
Solution: Yeah, I'm a noob...I get discouraged when I find out that the weird flying thing can kill me instantly from a mile away. I'd recommend implementing some kind of system to let players know which monsters they can handle...like instead of the word "Jouster" appearing above a monster's head, try "Jouster (L10)". Or color coding. Monsters that are more than 5 levels above your level have red names, ect.

Problem: Not enough maps.
Solution: This isn't really a problem. But, like several people on the forums (namely another one from oregon), I desperately want Boomtown back. Instead of simply making more maps, you could release a map maker to the community. Players could make maps, then submit them to the EA dev team. Of course, to help the money issues, they might have to pay $20 or $30. That way, the dev teams get more money, more maps for EA, and more players that are drawn to the better maps.

Problem: More noob issues.
Solution: I get lost easy. Maybe in a few months this will wear off, but I need to find Death Valley to defeat the monster I summoned that, thanks to another issue, I have no idea whether or not I can beat. Including a map in-game could be an easy solution. Or adding name tags to every area. E.G. you splash into the water a few feet from the shore, walk into a grove of trees and read in the chat log "YOU HAVE ENTERED SIAL ISLAND.".

Problem: Stores.
Solution: Guns that are sold in stores can easily be classified as whether or not you can use them. If they're farther up the scale, it's less likely that you can use them. I'm hoping for a system that will tell you information about certain items when you move the mouse over them. E.G. in a store somewhere, you move the mouse over a gun, and a small window pops up that tells you the STR, DEX, and WIS requirements, along with the Weapon Tech/ Mind Control. This isn't just for guns, either. I was in 4falls today, and I had the money to buy a familiar. I just wasn't sure if I could use it without having magic. I'm still not sure.

:P

Sorry if that sounded like a rant. The game is great, I swear. But great is just the word for it. Fix a few of these problems, and the game will probably be EPIC.

#1 Money issues will soon be resolved by other means i belive that Jason/Silent wants this to stay a F2P game with a TP. and there at this time are no slots *that i know of* for "admins" i can only assume that you mean GMs

#2 the naming isnt a bad idea however the color coding would be rather hard due to the fact that you dont have a true Level morso its the higest level of any 1 skill so say that you are lvl 10 in hide and lvl 3 in weapon tech .. you are level 10 by the current system, meaning you still cant take on a lvl 10 mob.

#3 More content is being desgined but other issues have come up ie server stability, staff taking leave of absence due to personal issues ect..

#4 i like the You have entered zone message idea will have to ask telos if this is possible or not also go like your going to Slothic caves and just walk passed them untill you see a skeleton on the ground that will be death valley. in the meantime check out the resources on the right side of the forums like Vals Site there are alot of maps to help you navigate.

#5 this used to be the case to where you could hover the item and get a short description and requirements, i belive that system is being worked on again.

Thanks for considering. It's nice to know that you liked some of my ideas, and that you're considering a few.

Zakazi, your like most other people. And not in a bad way. For the people who have been around a while have heard these things many times and they are being worked on. Give it time and you will see results just don't leave the EA community.

***Charging an admin in this case i think your referring to a GM will not happen for the mere fact that all GM's are volunteers for starters and I doubt Oogs will change anything because we don't want an onslaught of players paying money to get a position. That cheapens the whole concept of being a GM. All GM's were carefully thought of before they were picked and have more than ample experience in the game to do what they are asked to do.

Problem: Noob issues.

*** The concept of identifying or color coding critters has been mentioned before and if i'm wrong correct me but is being looked at again with possible inclusion in the near future.

*** Maps are currently being worked on by 2 of our community player, I know this for a fact as I have been in contact with one of them. Have you looked in the forums on the right hand side at some of the featured web sites there are maps there to help you. They may be a little out dated but normally will point you in the right direction. Again you state charging players that volunteer time by wanting to charge them for contributing their time to make your Game play more enjoyable?

Problem: More noob issues.
Solution: I get lost easy. Maybe in a few months this will wear off, but I need to find Death Valley to defeat the monster I summoned that, thanks to another issue, I have no idea whether or not I can beat. Including a map in-game could be an easy solution. Or adding name tags to every area. E.G. you splash into the water a few feet from the shore, walk into a grove of trees and read in the chat log "YOU HAVE ENTERED SIAL ISLAND.".

***I like your Idea of a zone splash page stating you are entering area XXXX. This does help in reducing the I'm lost scenario. As for where you want to go walk out HC bridge and using the clock for reference as the end of the bridge is 12:00 go to the 2:00 position and you will be on your way to where you are looking for. Remember to rebirth often.

Problem: Stores.
Solution: Guns that are sold in stores can easily be classified as whether or not you can use them. If they're farther up the scale, it's less likely that you can use them. I'm hoping for a system that will tell you information about certain items when you move the mouse over them. This isn't just for guns, either. I was in 4falls today, and I had the money to buy a familiar. I just wasn't sure if I could use it without having magic. I'm still not sure.

*** One easy solution is go to forums then look right locate vals website and print everything you need. It's a short time fix but will help you for now. We are also looking into a way to work on the data base to implement a fix for the can I use this or not issues.
:P

Sorry if that sounded like a rant. The game is great, I swear. But great is just the word for it. Fix a few of these problems, and the game will probably be EPIC.
***NP didn't come across as a rant, that's why we have the forums as they are here to help you in to answering posted questions or whatever your needs are. Hope some of this helped you in your quest for knowledge.

*** <-- these are my replies to your posting, again hope some of this helps and good luck in your ventures.
