Hiding Revamp
Instead of the current system where a person with level 18 hide is able to fail on a fairly consistent basis, why don't we change it so that it is actually useful? Here's my idea:
Instead of having hide be something that is a % chance event, we change it so that it is a timed event. You are only able to successfully hide once and then your timer has to reset before you can hide again. At level one hide the reset time would be something ridiculous and would motivate one to level it. At level 18.100 the reset time should be 6 seconds, or whatever the time between using it right now is. This way you could use hide for quests and actually reading what npc's have to say but if you wanted to use it for pk'ing or hunting you would be forced to level it so that it would be useful.
As for leveling the hide skill, each time you hide you should gain the amount of experience that would have gained if you were sitting there trying to hide in the current system. It would stray away from the current macro system. This would also go for Reveal, obviously.
Not a bad idea eh?

So you want somebody with level one reveal to be able to reveal somebody on the drop of a dime?(I'm aware that it would have a long cool-down) I'd rather keep the current system for hide/reveal.

I'm talking about a long, long time. Or it could be the current system until level 10 and then it would actually become useful.

Maybe if it had a cast time instead of a cooldown, that would make more sense - you suck at hiding so it takes you a full minute to find a good bush, you suck at finding people so you have to search under every damn rock ect - with the cast time going down as you level to being a few seconds at 18.

Well then it becomes less useful. Maybe a blend would work better.

Maybe up to level 10 it stays the same, and then either a cool down going down to 6 seconds or a cast time going to instant. Trying to use hide when going through something like CoA when you have to wait a few seconds to hide is ridiculous, because you'd get slaughtered depending on what you had around you (imagine trying to dodge something, the hide skills pulls off, and then BAM! because you were moving you're ****ed and have to wait again).

hmmm... well how about items that can help hide like say "camouflage"? without it your hide chance wouldn't be perfect. there that way the dev can make some quests for the better camo (like the armor) which will add more stuff to do in the game. Kinda like killing two birds with one stone. I mean it is hard to just "pick up a bush and be hidden" and would make it a little more realistic. Oh well, I do like all the other ideas so... whatevers fine by me.

Well Snake seems to hide well with just a carboard box, so why not?

The problem with camo is that you can't be partially invisible because then it screws everything up.

At Blank: ahh... I kinda meant that the camo would boost your success rate at hiding (like say rate of success is 50ish% highest level of camo adds like 30ish%), not camo working like that except as a kinda secondary effect. Sorry XP
