A few suggestions...
This seems to be a fun game so far. The graphics are extremely dated, but nothing is perfect right? It's like an MMO version of tribes on acid. I like it. I thought since this is an alpha test and everything that i should do my duty and give some feedback. Although the game seems like it will be fun the newbie experience is craptastic at best. I have a few suggestions to help improve it.
When you have a quest it would be nice if there was a dot on your compass pointing where you need to go. I spent over an hour yesterday looking for something for a quest and finally just had to have somebody show me where it was. At the very least the quests need better text directions. What little directions I got were extremely vague.
Can the fog be removed? In this day and age even a very low end computer would have no trouble rendering things much further away. It makes it hard to navigate since any landmarks I could use to tell where I am are hidden in annoying green fog.
Why no map? I thought every MMO in the world had one.
Why doesn't equipment show the requirements to equip it? I wasted all my money buying 4 different guns before I got one I could actually use. This is something else that every single other game in the world has too.
I've never played Endless Ages or Phylon before yesterday, but from what I've read it sounds like Phylon is basically a curse word around here. I also read the new Endless Ages would be using the Phylon engine, but not the models or textures. It would be cool if they upgraded to the full Phylon graphics while keeping the content that of Endless Ages. Despite what people seem to think of it, from the few screenshots I managed to find the graphics look way better. (and no green fog, yay!)
Why does the noob obstacle course give out a jet pack if the one you start with seems to be better anyway? Not really a problem, but just seems odd.
I can see my stats and skills in the character window, but it gives no indication of what any of them actually do. Some tooltips or something is in order here or maybe a quest that explains it in the newbie area.
No manual. WTF?! Shouldn't there at least be a .pdf or .txt with some basic instructions if there's not going to be a tutorial? This has to be the least user friendly game I've ever played.
Half the things I attack take ages to kill and the other half are too easy. There should be some way of telling what level something is by looking instead of attacking things at random and having to go back to town every 2 minutes because if you shoot the wrong thing there goes your entire supply of clips even if you do manage to survive. Most games handle it by color coding the names.

Remember this is Alpha Testing, so a lot is being fixed, once things get fixed things will be added to the game..

This was my favorite suggestion, I agree with this and I think this is one of the first things that should be added as soon as Alpha/Beta is over.

I have enver really thought much on this, I kind of like the set up how it is, but to tie in with your first suggestion it would make a newbie's experiance a lot easier being able to see familiar land marks. The cool thing about EA is it is easy to find your way around just by flying up and looking around, but in some areas and times of day it can be real annoying.

I agree an in game map has come up a lot over the years and would be handy.

This is Alpha, so every thing... well to be honest... nothing right now is how it should or will be when the game goes live. LOT of things being fixed at the moment.

The textures you see now I think will be changed later, after Alpha. In a world that will be released (actualy 2) there are better looking graphics.

It is just an Alpha thing, the bot guy that gives you a JetPack will be removed or changed in Beta most likely.

There will most likely be some thing explaining it after (again) alpha/beta

I am willing to bet there will be a manual or a guide later on.

I most times hate to see things from MMORPG's even being mentioned on these forums, but this is one I would like to see put in game.
Thanks for posting, I know the game is going through rocky times, but I hope you stick with Endlessages. Once every thing is back how it is supposted to be you will find Endlessages is the most unique MMO game you will ever find and no doubt you will fall in love with it as our dedicated community has.

I know it's alpha and I know some of this stuff is bound to be added/fixed. I was just mentioning it as things which still needed work. Just in case any of it hasn't been thought of or mentioned before. Sorry if there are already plans for any of the stuff I listed. Thanks for mostly agreeing with me though. ^_^ I hope i like it here too. It does seem to be unique. I've been looking for an MMOFPS to replace Planetside since I made my vow to never spend another penny on a Sony game. This and neocron seem to be the only choices until Huxley comes out, so here I am. I'm a big tribes fan so I love the FPS with jetpacks thing. Now if only I can convince them to add a spinfusor gun, hehe.

I also like the compass idea, i never noticed fog in the past, but since alpha came out it gets annoying as heck, and the night drags on to long.

The fog is one of my biggest issues. I don't know if it's this bad for other people, but I really can't tell where I'm going. Yesterday I flew from one hill to another one a short distance away and when I turned around to go back I couldn't see the hill I came from anymore. I was flying for around 5 seconds at most, but the fog was still to thick to find my original location. My computer can play UT3, Quakewars and Oblivion at max graphics settings so it would really be nice if I could have the option to completely turn off the fog. Even my last computer which was 6 years old (ancient by gaming rig standards) would have no trouble running EA with no fog. There's really no technological reason for it to exist anymore, although I can see how it might have been needed when the game came out.
Something related: Why do I only have 60FPS? 60 is fine, but it just seems really weird that it's not way higher. Is there a cap on it or something? Just curious.

I am a big fan of Tribes also =) I haven't played it in a long time though, I lost my copy and never bought another one.
But yeah, the PVP/PK system in this FPS is the best in a lot of opinions.
It gives you the bset of both worlds, and unlike say Counter Strike it is 70% Skill with 20% char level and 10% system requirments. But Counter Strike in my opinion is 90% system power and 10% skill, if that.
But thanks again for posting, I really liked the way you said that post. A lot of people on this forum make absolutely no since when they post :P. SPIRIT WIND!!

Yes there is an fps cap
EA is supposed to be a low end game that doesn't require a good computer, and I like that it doesn't take up much of my cpu, and the 60fps limit helps that...there is no reason for fps to go above 60, and this limit also helps make the playing field equal for everyone if going over 60fps does anything...
Windowed mode in EA is brilliant, I can hit f12 to free my mouse from the game, talk to someone on msn, aim, or g-talk and then click on the game to get back into the action, and the fps limit helps keep the game lightweight.
If the fps limit wasn't there I could be getting over 200fps (and so could a lot of people), which there is no reason for...

the current maps ingame are from the orginal Endless ages. since they are using the updated phylon engine i'm sure they will be adding the newer maps with the better graphics and such. i never realized how bad the fog was... didn't really notice it lol. but its cool to see a new member of the community here. how did you find out about us?

Ya, I can't wait to see some new better graphics in this game.
When EA is running I'm using like...10% of my cpu, but when its loading a new map it uses a bit more like 60%, but I can zone into a new area in less than 10 seconds, on a small world like ft, 4f, or catas its less than 5 seconds.
now if I only had a solid state drive

Ok. I wasn't complaining. Like I said, I was just curious.

I googled "MMOFPS".
I thought up another suggestion. When falling you should use your jetpack pose. It looks weird when I let off the gas for a second on my jetpack and find myself trying to run in the air.
It would also be nice if the caves were brighter. I've actually gotten stuck running around in pitch blackness trying to find the door.
A buddy list would be nice too. If there is one I haven't managed to find it yet.
The lighting seems bugged. Sometimes when I should be able to see somebody clearly they show up like a black silhouette as if the room was really dark or they were standing in a shadow. In most places the lighting on people and NPCs in general seems not to match the brightness of the room, but the problem is especially bad in the human city.
