Sorry to bump a old thread but i think there are a few valid points in this, and maybe some solutions currently overlooked,


First and foremost, this game needs to decide where its going, Is this game a PVP game with some quests OR is it a quest based game with a little pvp?

i would say this game is a PVP game with quests, there fore the players aim should be to get high quick and participate in pvp,

One of the soloutions to this problem would be to give 5 times exp when killing players (to stop random player kills maybe introduce some kind of arena with team based games or king of the hill ect)

another would be Rare items that drop from medium to high level mobs that increase the % of Exp per hit

Now, dont get me wrong, im not suggesting that after a hour of farming medium level mobs you get a XP item and can level 100 times faster, im saying after a week or so of killing diffrent hard mobs you get the chance at getting a xp item either through a quest or a teamplay npc, (needs more than one person to kill it)

i can see why this game has a problem with AFK combat trainers, i spent hours killing Kandra's ect and walked away with a exp increase of about 5%. Something needs to be done but i think first you need to make the decision put to you at the start of this reply, Where is this game trying to get to? PVP or PVM

well annoying that you bumped an old thread but hey I wouldnt mind seeing experience increased since most obviously AI will not be fixed anytime soon. I mean leave DE as it is and just make all rune bosses viable for leveling, and in turn make rune zones places you can drop your stuff. Will make afk leveling risky as it could get costly. I personally feel the wait for the fix in AI to have decent xp gains is asking a little much of the community. I am not saying boost Destroyer or shipron just put the other rune bosses like slate/brike on the same lvl as shipron, maybe put zorph on a little lower lvl since he is easily killed without getting hit. make pridion and zeth the ones that are harder to exploit give out 50-75% more exp than destroyer.

Although that is a decent and acceptable solution, it implies that this game is more PVM orientated. i would really like to see some of the advantages of the FPS used, IE Team based quests and pvp, maybe even a deathmatch arena

i agree, i have also said this before, and i will say it again....shut down the game/server, get all the bugs worked out of it, TOTALLY revamp the game, and relaunch it when its 1000% better. this game is not worth my time right now, thats why i havent played for probably 2 or 3 months....just not worth my time....

I personally think the leveling system needs to change dramaticly!!

You are absolutly right on one point.. Siting in one spot for hours on end is irritating!!

I think the quests need to be extended at lest 50-100 steps per quest and EXP gains should go up A LITTLE..... This makes the content extended by months..

And the most important change would be to add way frign more content...

Unfortunatly EA is a half decent FPS and a half decent RPG.. No one includeing my self is going to play it just for the RPG side or the FPS side... Fourtunatly the FPS is good, a few problems with the weapons is the real problem they need to be changed back to Gold standards. The RPG side really needs the work.. EA would be dull if it was an MMORPG with absolutly no PvP (this is hte problem with games like WOW, absolutely no PvP ability except pointing and clicking on spells.) It would also be absolutly boring with just a FPS set up... There needs to be a happy medium between the two and I feel that hasn't been achived since Gold era..

gold was great the game has never been the same since the first boom town was put in it just never seemed the same, and then all the changes to weapons and damages just seemed to take it even more away from what made it so great in gold.

Im just asking for the easy solution now, that way they can make the community a little happier and then they can work on overhauling the leveling system and balancing everything correctly and fixing the AI and adding new content. Currently the game is broken and so they need to make something worth while just to keep people interested and playing, so whats so bad about making the leveling easier for now until they can get all these wonderful fixes in place?

This thread needs to be bumped daily. Good points, I support you. Old player that came back when it went free. I played for about two weeks, now I'm bored with leveling my character to wear my 11 armor. Not playing atm.

I remember before the game was launnched the deva and stuff were showing pics of new maps and stuff when is that stuff going to be implemented

Okay. Hellblade, I agree with many of your points, except for the control tower PvP idea. EA simply does not have a large enough player base to make this a good idea - with our 10 to 20 active players, essentially all this tower idea will do is make everyone into one large mafia-like clan to gain the +10 bonuses at all times. No other clan will compete, because there's not enough people to help them compete. You will either belong to THE clan, or be stomped by the clan. Perfect way to make a troubled game worse.



Most of all though, I bleieve that the Dev team needs to focus on priorities. Everyone who is anyone has advice of how to change the game. They see little details that they want changed, or incredibly intricate changes that they don't understand. The XP system, while slow, should not truly be a priority! To "dramatically" change the XP system would be to rework a massive amount of code, since it is undoubtedly integrated into each mob and character totals. To change the system as a whole, they would essentially need to restart the server, and drop everyone's characters back down to zero to avoid the massive amounts of bugs that it would produce (and that indeed ALL major changes produce at first).

Is it unreasonable to just put in a quick fix by changing the single variable, that is the amount of XP a certain mob generates instead? It shouldn't be. In properly cited code, even I could make that change within 10 minutes of searching. Given the demand for it, there really isn't any reason for them to not implement this change. If they want further proof of demand, just make a poll.

Aside from this though - priorities. What should the developer's priorities be with this game at this point? Should they spend the countless hours required to fix the world graphics, and stop random layers and textures from being replaced or absent? Should they work on reimplementing the many things that were lost since booster? (I know that we're ALL missing the arena)

I think that we should start defining our wants and needs with a clear focus. Forget that poll of "what days do players get online". Put one up that asks what people want to see in the game. Get a set idea of what must be done. Everyone has an opinion, and everybody wants to voice it. Lets collaborate, and actually make it count.

I remember getting 18 mc using a low level weapon on my frog farming the hell out of Eyezion(sp?) in COA. Thinking back was that the right name of the place? Damn it's been a long time. Anyways, it made my eyes bleed and was a serious bore accept when someone came down to play smack my frog.

Probably didn't help I was red and on everyone's pooplist for various reasons.
