Observations during installation
I had been trying for a week to get EA installed and running using ea-setup.exe and ea-fullpatch.exe on my D Drive because my C Drive is partitioned to only store my OS, while everything else is on my D Drive.
What I noticed was that even though the installation files give you an option to change the default installation directory, that if you do the game just won't work. I must have tried this 10 times using fresh installs after uninstalling and removing registry entries, and the game would never run properly after being installed to any directory other than the default on the C Drive. So basically, you have to install to the default directory or it probably won't work. I suspect this may be because the game is still looking for files in the default directory on the C Drive even if you change the installation directory to the D Drive.
Trying to reinstall with ea-setup.exe a week ago, I got error messages which would not allow the install to continue. This is after I tried using the ea-fullpatch.exe and ea-livesetup.exe, so I suspect some entry was made somewhere to prevent ea-setup.exe from running and installing properly after ea-fullpatch.exe or ea-livesetup.exe.
I then tried a fresh install using the ea-livesetup.exe, and for some reason the file would go through the motions of installation, but would never actually install any files, and then gave an error message at the end of installation saying the endless.exe file was not "marked" to be run. After this, the installation directory would be empty, so nothing was ever installed by ea-livesetup.exe.
I then went back and installed ea-fullpatch.exe in the default directory on the C Drive, and the game client updated and I was able to log into the game.
Not sure if this will help anyone having a rough time of installation, but after all the attempts I made I thought someone might be having the same problems and might benefit reading what finally worked for me.
