SORRY FOR THE SHORT NOVEL PLEASE READ IT ALL
Well as i would like to see what everyone thinks and not just oogie

i am here today to tell you about my event idea. It is a little hard to understand so please bear with me and read closely. I had this idea when the saturday pvp event and thunderdome was on and wondered if it could happen because i personally like the idea not just because it was my idea but it seems fun and could raise some cash.
Here goes...
Well i saw that we had no kind of pvp clan events before or group events and the arena isnt in so i thought of this way to raise money for endless ages. The event idea is a group effort for example there could be 4 people who represent each clan who sign up for the event. The event could raise cash by each person per team has to pay 5 dollars to enter or some fixed amount of cash. It could be clan members or just friends who want to turn up and enter. So a team of 6 would raise 30 dollars... But these are just example figures. There are so many different teams you could have and this could get your clan recognised as a really good clan as you could have a clan team which is 2 of your members and another team which is 6 of your members.
The idea of the teams is you must pass the kind of 'course' in a certain time. Then the other team would try to beat it to say like they are better at that game than you. And there would be a max cap of amount in a team that would be allowed. For example you could have teams of 1/2/3/4/5/6 and it stops at 6 maybe. That is only just figures that could be used for an example. When there is a new event the same teams can step up and try to beat their time and the other teams would just try and knock them off the scoreboard. The time set by each team size would be posted on a sticky thread called leaderboard for event on the forums that may go like this:
CLAN TEAMS LEADER BOARD
Team name: They make up a team name
Clan they are from: As it says
Team number: 2
Time taken: 6 mins 21 seconds
Team members: Who is in it
Team name: As above
Clan they are from: As it says
Team number: 4
Time taken: 5 mins 5 seconds
Team members: Who is in it
Team name: As above
Clan they are from: as it says
Team number: 6
Time taken: 4 mins 45 seconds
Team members: Who is in it
PLAYER TEAMS LEADERBOARD - This would be exactly the same as the above layout but you dont have to be in a clan to enter.
The event would be a REAL team based event to encourage working together as this game needs more of it IMO. When i say REAL team based event im serious as my idea is that when one of your players dies then they cannot carry on participating in the team till the end of the event and the rest of the team must carry on without them making it much harder so they must work together. Maybe using teamspeak/vent so they can communicate well.
The rewards could be ingame cash. For example the max you could only win is 1 mil per person. If a team of 4 enters then there is 4 mil up for grabs and to make this more interesting is if one person dies then they lose their chances of getting their 1 mil and it goes to the remaining 3 players. If another person dies then its 2 mil each up for grabs and if one more dies then the person left can win 4 mil. You may think 'Well how does this make it team based as everyone will let their other players die?'. Well if you let your other players die then its gonna be harder for you to finish the actual course. Remember these are all figures for example. I made them up so its easy to explain because this is quite complicated
Also another way to raise cash is allow a player to bet on themselves. say like a minimum of 2 dollars saying that they wont be eliminated in the event. If they are eliminated then they dont get their money back. But if they survive the event then they could get 100k (example figures again) for every dollar they bet. So if its 100k per dollar and they bet 10 dollars they will survive, and then all their players die in a team of 4 then they complete the course then they will win 5 mil. In addition to the betting of the players betting they could have non participants bet on if the team would make it and receive 50k per dollar they bet (half of what the participants would earn). So bet 5 dollars and you could win 250k for doing nothing :P fast money if i do say so myself. But the player actually has to survive for you to get the 250k. Even if they do survive then you dont get your money back but instead you get the ingame money. Ingame money should be easy for the devs/gms to give for the event
Programming of this event should be minimal as you dont need to program anything unless if this event actually happens and goes well and raises lots of money and the devs choose to create a custom map for it to be hosted in then they can do so. The only trouble would be the money being payed to enter and the betting money being payed. I suppose a way of solving this is we have the LEADERBOARD thread and we could have a new sticky thread each time its hosted thats posted the week before the event happens like the below. Under this side note about team sizes and organising the team sizes
Side note:
(the event could be a maximum of 5 teams competing each time depending on if they are big teams or small teams so first come first serve?)
e.g 7 teams can compete on the night if they are 1 person teams
6 teams if they are 2 person teams
5 teams if they are 3 person teams
and so on... remember these are example figures but the gms can choose what they want to do to organise it. There could be each week a turn for a 2 person team. Then a 4 person team the next week
The thread is posted on 23/07/08 and the event is to be run on 30/07/08
on the thread it would say
Teams entering sizes 2
Team name:
Clan name:
Team members:
Time taken: (will be posted once event completed then updated onto leader board of the relating team size if it is a new record)
Teams entering sizes 4
Team name:
Clan name:
Team members:
Time taken: (will be posted once event completed then updated onto leader board of the relating team size if it is a new record)
Teams entering sizes 6
Team name:
Clan name:
Team members:
Time taken: (will be posted once event completed then updated onto leader board of the relating team size if it is a new record)
They could have a week for clans and a week for non clans too!
Then they have for the team who wants to enter if they have payed it or not. If they have not payed it then they cannot participate as they need to pay to enter. Also if they ask if they can make a bet then it could be said there. For example:
Teams entering sizes 2
Team name: The Humplelumpers
Clan name: None
Team members: Chompy. Blegh2j00
Time taken: (will be posted once event completed then updated onto leader board of the relating team size if it is a new record)
Chompy: 5 dollars to enter paid via paypal (if not payed within a certain deadline then it should say so)
Blegh2j00: 5 dollars to enter paid via paypal
Bets: Both payed 20 dollar bet via paypal
Other bets: Neophyte bet 100 dollars that Chompy will survive paid via paypal (thanks neo)
The gms/devs/jason may need to sort some kind of payment method out
If they havent payed within the deadline then they cannot compete. This event could be done for fun too for the freeloaders like me (currently freeloading untill this job notice comes through). But that would encourage people not to pay for it and wouldnt raise a dime.
NOW! the actual event... lol i spent so much time talking about the other stuff which seems to be more important i havent actually explained the event...
Well it is in the crypts as you know. The team who wants to participate after getting all the payments in and the betting cleared the event goes like this. The event style is a clear each stage round where they must clear each stage. Now... the GMS can make it as challenging as they want as it has room for an easy and quick event or a slow and painful event for the participants.
The participants start off in the viskpan room or just down the slope. Then they go up the slope and meet an opponent. He would be standing by the hole in the floor to drop down to grisions and skarshars. Now this could either be a player or a spawn but then again spawns attack everything and arent challenging so it should be a player. There could be 1 or 2 players depending on team size. If there is just 1 person then there should not be anyone waiting for them right here. If there are 2 people there could be one person who they team up on. The gms could equip the player with 15 armor and a chalis or netty or whatever they want if they want to make it challenging. Or even add another player to wait there. It all depends on how mean the gms want to be. they must defeat the first enemy before they move on. The gms as i said can make it as hard as they want. Maybe even outnumbering the team at the first obstacle. It all depends on how many players there are and how the gms will do the obstacles... If this event is hosted that is
Once they have done this part they must move on as fast as they can as remember they are doing it against the clock! The players are moving as if they are trying to get out of the crypts away from an angry flob mob that does 999999 ranged damage and cant be killed. So they must move in the direction towards the exit. When they fly upwards and are about to go through the corridor there would be a another group of enemies in the corridor that you must go through to goto the exit. They must work together as the challenge could get harder as it goes along. Or easier... depending on if the gms want to make it hard or easy as i said before. To make it harder they could equip the first person(s) with not so great equipment. Maybe 11 armor and a nerv gun. Or if the gms want to make it easy as it goes along. Do 4 enemies at the start. All in 15 armor and with the death gun then make it easier from there but the rest of the event wouldnt be as my idea goes.
So i prefer it to get harder as it goes along. This would be as i had planned the event. What would happen after the 11 armor guy that i would have placed as the first obstacle then i would place a group of harder enemies. maybe 2 blobs with 11 armor and pulse master (it has aoe so be careful). They must defeat this second group of enemies to move on as it says.
Once done here they move through to the shiny portal room with the sarin in. The gms may need to do something about the sarin incase they interfere. Once in this room they are not allowed to go through to the exit. if they have a group of 2 or more then they must split up and deal with a group of enemies on their own. So if there is a group of 4 then they split up into 2's and split off going left and right. NOT FORWARD. Then in the corridors left and right will be another group of enemies waiting there for them. Maybe an equal amount of enemies to them going off. Maybe 4 enemies for 4 people. Maybe not. Its the GMS choice. For a single player doing it they can't break off so the GMS should make it harder earlier on so its tougher to get to this stage.
Once one of the groups are done they can go back to the centre shiny portal room and if the GMs decide that they may go through and help the other group then they can. If not then they must wait for them anxiously to return and only be able to cheer them on while they die lol... It would be a shame because if its going to be harder each stage then poor them if the other group dont make it. If any of their team have been wiped out on previous stages then they will still have the same amount of enemies waiting for them on the next stages. like if 3 of the 4 people have been wiped out then there is one person to take on the rest of the course. Against the clock still (poor them). Like at the current stage there are 4 enemies and the enemies must be wiped out before the team can continue.
Once done here they must move on to the final and hardest stage. At this stage there is a gm waiting for them with some uber equipped player group... maybe a 2:1 ratio in the favour of the enemy and thats from the start so if there are 4 players then 8 will be waiting at the final stage. Or maybe a 2:1 ratio in the players favour so 2 enemies from the start. Or an even ratio so its 4 of the people to defeat vs however many players are left. If they finish this stage then the gm congratulates them with their winnings. For the single player at this stage then there would be just 1 person waiting maybe. As i said its the gms choice on figures
That is my big idea.
Now that i think it over i realise 1 mil ingame credits per person may not be enough. Maybe 3 mil. GMS can decide. But my brain hurts after writing this
I hope someone considers this so i didnt write it for nothing. It could raise a lot of cash for the game so i hope you appreciate it and maybe host it. If only just a trial event to see if it works and if it doesent then we know it wont work but i would appreciate a try of it.
Remember these figures i have said can be played with... The figures of money gained on betting and reward for finishing. Money to enter. Minimum bet
THANK YOU FOR READING IT IF YOU DID
