The 0KB issue has to be fixed permanently. - Endless Ages

Warning, I am Going to Rant and Rant Hard.

I invited my brother in law to play the game today. He downloaded the game and installed the 1.6 patch. But he is stuck at 0KB on some file at startup. Doesnt really matter which one it is. i have been texting back and forth with him for the last 2 hours trying to fix it.

Honestly I dont want to see a single post here about checking firewalls, downloading files from some other site or any other nonsense. I am a network engineer by trade and I have covered all the firewall settings that can be via text message.

THE POINT IS

It is utterly *RIDICULOUS* that this is even an issue. No other MMO or online game i or anyone else currently playing this game has ever had to jump through this many hoops just to get a file to download from the games own server from its own client. This has been a known issue for years and it gets excuses and disableing this and that "work arounds" for far to long.

The server or game engine *has* to be fixed. The problem is not with peoples computers or network setup and it is utterly insulting to even suggest it. You can play every other MMO you own just fine, but not this one and its somehow some setting on *your* computer that is causing the issue.

Just Change the way the server looks to verify and download files to clients. Make it work like every other MMO in exsistence for the last 10 years.

I can not seriously invite people to play and then try to explain to them that "no really the game is good once you can actually play it".

It is IRRITATING AS HECK That this has been a known issue for years and week after week 5 people or more cant get the game to run and post about it and NOTHING IS EVER DONE TO FIX IT You guys say that its port 80, yet port 80 is HTTP and its never blocked ever. HTTP, and FTP are comon ports everyone uses and almost no firewall built into a home router blocks it. There is something else going on here and it needs to be fixed and soon not a year form now or never.

There is no excuse for this game not to work like every other game out there.

This simply has to be the number one priority to get working.

I have to agree. I went through a lot just to get the game installed on my laptop, including having to manually download about 10 .cab files individually AFTER installing the 1.6 patch. Wouldn't it make more sense to include all those .cab files in the 1.6 installation file? And if they're already included, then perhaps what needs to be addressed is why they aren't being installed correctly.

i am having same issue with my EA and i want to play lol i have havn't play EA since Alpha And i Played in old ea to this is a discrace to all mmo's....you really need to fix this problem bcuz you are loosing valuable money bcuz ppl can't paly it so the don't pay for it...

Hellbinder i will do anything to play this game once again so do you have any sugestions on what i should do? liek do i ahve to manueling downlaod and bunch of stuff cuz idc i jsut wanna play my favourite game soo badly:'(

I fixed my brother-in-laws game by copying my EndlessagesR directory to my flash drive and going to his house and overwriting his. poof its magic works perfectly.

They should just have a verified game client zipped up or just make sure that the patch addresses *all* files that the version on the server is looking for. Actually they should fix the game so that it doest care about firewalls or whatever other settings keep the game from updating correctly.

I wish i could help you. but you cant get my game directory im afraid.

It isn't port 80. We can't change client patching, but I want to use the launcher as a patcher over port 80. That is the only solution we're capable of making in house, any changes to the client are impossible for the moment.

Don't assume that we don't think the things you have a problem with are not a concern to us, we know this is a problem. It may have been a problem for years, but i've only recently gotten the files needed to make a change to the launcher itself. Anything prior to DME owning the game is entirely that of RR and Avaria, and I don't know why they ignored this problem.

Agreed. But accually I dont really thing its a patch problem or anything because once apon a time (Short story time)...
I was in 15 and doing what people do in 15... Of course I was going to die and what do you think happened? Yes, you are correct, I died. Although I was in 4falls about 5-10 minutes before I had no problem loading the file. It turns out that 4falls.cab file was stuck at downloading 0 kb thing. What happened there? I really don't know and I really cant answer but all I know is that I had to download the cab file, extract it, and restart the game. Then it worked! Woohoo
Just thought I'd put my odd story out there =D

Install EA properly... cab it.... make it into a setup file.. add new setup file as EA install client.... problem solved?
