come on kip dont u think i know theres apps to run windows games on linux Lol pfft, i was actually looking for answers along the lines of wether theirs certain things in the game that will prevent it from running with Wine on Linux. Maybe i should get my old EA cd out and see if it will load even though that wouldnt do all that much since it would only bring up the login screen.

yay another linux fan!!!
Do you have compiz fusion Rolled?
Wine might do it with this engine....but the only way to find out is to try, I have been told it can run BF2.
And if it might be possible...someone with a linux computer could compile it for linux....since you have to have an account to play it can be downloaded by almost anyone anyway. But I am not sure how to compile stuff...I only know that my friend knows how to do it.

Main issue with Linux (asside from using DX vs GL) is going to be the core C library, complier used to build that "edition" of Linux even the kernel version. Sound driver or method can be an issue although those are mature now.
Windows is 1 set of variables whereas Linux can be any combination of the above and still be Linux. That is the real problem. What might work with Wine, WineX on this Distro won't work on the next. Now if someone wanted to put out the effort you might be able to get it to work on "standardized" Distro's but I wouldn't count on it.
I still like to use Linux but rarely even attempt to get a Windows game to run on it.
Cya when we get beta out.

nah i use enlightenment(e17), most the source engine based games will run on linux/cod/WoW/and loads of others. Either way ill give it a try when beta comes out and if it doesnt work itll be time for windows again =)

The only possible way to run the current version of EA on linux would be to use WINE or some other Windows emulator.
It'd be tough considering EA is directx 9/10 based now and DX is hard to emulate on linux.
Maybe we can look into porting EA to linux and MAC in the future, I'm sure it wouldnt be too difficult

Yeah that's cool bro, I hope they can make Linux work with whatever, that Wine program. I don't know much about Linux, but I am learning and learning quick. I already love it for server stuff, way more secure then Windows Server BS.

Networking wouldnt be my concern, jason talking about dx9 and 10 are my concerns lol, dx9 is pretty ruff with wine all depending. But either way im eager to see what happens when trying to install the beta on Linux. O and btw I had to install the gold version of EA on windows and copy the folder over to my linux machine. The EA installer error'd about with some java problems. But after moving the windows install over to linux I can run the EndlessAges.exe and bring up the connect screen and the IIA map and all that or I can run Intern.exe directly like the screenie above shows.
