Housing Sucked time for change?
I like and loved the idea but the old house models sucked I mean come on Log home to space age-ish silo to a castle...
I think time for a a renew on all models for the houses and maybe even consider a better system for not just placing them but maybe underground like bunkers and such.
I know it also does not take that long to redo the house models.. I suck when comes to 3d design but to make a replica of the castle would take me 1-2 hours a pro would have it done in no time..
What you think
Yes = Time for new House Models
No = Nah I rather keep it the same..

Thanks I just think some well constructed polls would give the team a good idea what players are looking for.. As the looks of it Houses is a major thing that players want changed.

We wont have housing initially due some restrictions on the engine, they will come later tho, which will also give us some time to re-do them and make them make sense.
Like Tree Houses, and mushroom houses for frogs, Huts and Houses for humans, Silo's and Rock Houses for Blobs?
Also looking to adding a big "Housing" Area with all kinds of cool spots people can place their houses.
We'll see.

Make sure you got a test server up please... and only up during testing time so people don't live on it.

How possible is it to add player name to houses? Or if store is available?
You remember how much of a pain it was searching for hours for items!!
Maybe just have player name show up at the bottom of your screen as you roll your mouse over the house.

I diagree in many ways..
1) Some pvpers or red tags live there and don't want there house announced to the world.
2) I makes it to easy and not enough work to find things..
3) It really takes the fun out of it going house to house and removed a RP element too.. It was nice when your searching things to buy and you bang into the persons house and you start talking and such it was fun..
So I would say no I rather keep names off it.. Even if was some type of SWG naming feature where you can name your house.

new house models would be great. along with furniture and other things you can place inside.
my only concern is the housing area. if you were trying to run from a pker in iia and you were in a heavily housed area, it would be a little easier to run from them using the houses as a cover. although i'm sure you'll have some good ways to make the land a lot less bland without the houses while not making it a pain to navigate.

I too had this feeling. The polling feature had been inoperable until Jason recently fixed it, so I had to resort to old-fashioned polling. Nice job with your polls, Kane.

I liked the old housing system, but the models did suck just a bit. Bunker houses would be cool too. One thing I wanted to do was make a house in a cave, but I wasn't able to find a safe spot in a housing zone within a cave

A housing zone in an underground cave system would be cool, thought it might be hard to navigate (getting lost, light source, etc.) I always wanted one of those houses with the golden haystack roofs that they had in AK ^^
And those miniatures in the housing store =D

I'll bet thats not going to work with this 3d engine as it would prolly be another way to easily clip under the map... but maybe that can be fixed so when people clip into the voids they die or just go back to rebirth.

I wouldn't say I don't want new house models, but I wouldn't really care if they changed them... so I would prefer if they spent their efforts elsewhere first

Whether to have a house and/or new house model is up for debate. My concern is on the marketplace. I tend to have crafters and alot of you used my products at one point or another in EA and I plan on continuing to provide that service once we go live. Gives me something to do when I'm not in the mood to dodge PK'rs.
Ok, so no houses at this time, alright where does one sell their wares? I didn't mind the standing in HC to meet with prospective buyers when it was necessary but over the years and after playing different MMO's I find having a storefront of some type more effective.
Any thoughts?

in beta when leveling is sped up, things should be created when using trade skills a lot faster as well so there isn't a problem with that.
but peroxis should be in stores too. that way we don't have to waste time making heals.

Probably gonna put heals/high lvl ammo in the shops during beta to make sure we can rush the quests - you don't really need to test grinding professions for weeks on end...
