So what is you're guys opinion on Slipknot? I like the ban a lot, about all i dont like is their masks in the music videos, its a little weird =p.
But... Do you guys think they are atheist or Satanist? Its hard to tell, alot of their songs have different meanings and couple be perceived in different ways.
Overall I think they are pretty awesome.

slipknot is nothing but a bunch of hacks playing at being a real band in my opinion. I cant even stand to hear their "music". Though I guess everyone has different tastes but sometimes I catch myself thinking that a good majority of people have no taste at all.

lol well, I pretty much listen to anything, all music is good to me. The only stuff i dont listen to is a lot of rap and anything that has like realllly bad and meaningless lyrics.
I like slipknot a lot, some of their songs are pretty awesome, like duality, left behind, vendetta, and pulse of the maggots.

Since I'm stopping in I'll say something.


I think a few of there old songs are ok. Some of the ones you listed. But as for satanism, as far as I know they are not traditional satanism (Which if you don't know if a symbolic atheist religion, as in they don't worship any deity, but Satan is the tradition term) which is the only satanic church that is legally recognized.

But from what I remember of them they did have the Goat, and the traditional pentagram which would say they that were Atheist Satanists (for some reason many people think actual satanism is worshiping Satan as a god, and doing "evil" practices. Which is not true)

But also from what i've seen they started being a little stupid with this maggot stuff, they're trying to do the same old "Our band is our religion" ****. Which people do seem to take to (hormone driven kids that wish they had problems.) So no I believe they are on a blurred line symbolic and religion wise.

But as a band, I've never been a die hard fan sense they seem more like a buzz band attempting to be a cult band (using cult in the sense of certain target audience). And with your problems with the masques and videos, last a knew the masques were a deal about them trying to show their personalities (I don't really think that's out there that much, it makes them seem different but it's not really that big of a deal.)

And the Videos, well I never saw something that weird about them, but then again I'm a sodomite living in sinful bliss.

It's funny this was brought up though, because I hadn't thought about them for a while and decided to see what they've been doing. I think their new Album is trash, not really any kick to it. But as far as they're talent goes, for a nine man band they could be allot better, but eh sometimes they're fun to listen to. Again not a real big fan, not really dislike them either.

I like rock, metal, not really the growling stuff. Heres an example of the metal I like.

as for the music, i threw all but Killswitch engage 1st CD and a Snot album away when I became Christian, I just listen to Christian metal now.

What you put in your mind is what will mold your thoughts! Music is a powerful tool, that can be used to aid either sin, or righteousness.

I did use to listen to slipknot tho, had some of their cds, they don't have melody in most of their songs. Granted, they made a few musically decent songs, the majority of their stuff is far below average in my opinion. I much prefer to just load up an entire CD of somebody on my mp3 player and just do my thing, rather then pick out only good songs, or constantly having to sift thru it to get to something enjoyable.

PS. good luck in your journey. i would give you some Christian counterparts of slipknot, but i haven't found any. . . haven't been lookin either. /shrug. maybe check out Brian "Head" Welch's new stuff. It is pretty freakin good.

please allow me to give you this hypothetical situation;

The year is 2010, Koreans are at war. The North VS the South.

The North side allows anyone to join their ranks, at any time, with complete amnesty. They will be given a new home, a new life, weapons to protect themselves from the South. As it is war, the new and old Northerners gladly fight the southerners, out of love and pride in their homeland.

The South side, on the other hand, viciously attacks the North, and kills all - soldiers, civilians, women, children. You may still defect to the South if you are a Northerner, you will be given a short lived pleasurable life, with money, and all you want, however, you will die via torture at the Southerner's hands.

Now, it has some holes, but you can see from this story that there is a war. One side will kill everyone not on their side, no matter if they are aware of the war or not, no matter if they have a gun or child in hand. Such is the way when you deal with demonic forces (satan).

TL;DR? There is a war (spiritual), and everyone is in it, whether they believe it or not. The World IS round, whether you believe it or not. 2 times 2 IS 4, whether you believe that or not. You can choose to pick a side and fight for either , or you can be a civilian and get killed eventually, by the vicious side.

religion IS made up, and I'm with slipknot when they say F* religion, but Christ and following him is NOT religion, it is a lifestyle and a relationship with the King and source of Life.

To your first paragraph, no most the world are not satanist, most atheist people are not satanist. Because Satanism still has symbolic practices (atleast) the satanism that is recognized.


And what you said about aiding "sinning" or righteousness is very true. Be I believe it can be other way around. I found my music by already being the way I was.


The only problem I have with religious people, are those that hide their faults behind their religion, or those that think I'm incorrect for living the way I do. Mainly because I probably know more about their religion then they do.

Why is it every time someone brings up Slipknot someone immediately thinks satanism/devil. The band isn't satanic, and it's a common misconception.

From Autumn to Ashes (FATA) isn't metal, nor is Marilyn Manson. Manson is shock rock and FATA is Hardcore/Emo.

If you want Metal I got loads of it.

after watching this thread grow....i find myself laughing....it started out like a normal post just asking a simple question.......and now excluding darkcypher's post the last 6 have been about religion....i will not be dragged into it because i will probably blow your minds with my unique view of the world.....my be a tad exaggerated or may be understated....the view tends to change daily please just get back to the freaking slipknot discussion about there songs NOT there ideology nor there appearance

for the most part i prefer only half a dozen or so of there older songs they just seem to have a better rhythm, lyrics,.....everything...., tho i do like one of there songs off there new album...psychosocial...
