The Zombie Survival Thread
Ok, time for a little "contest". What weapons would you use and transportation during a zombie outbreak? This is where those who have a good deal of knowledge about firearms can show their stuff. Explain why you picked the things you did. YOu may also tell where you would hide or set up defences. Here is the scenario:
You must tell what you would use against zombies that are normal sluggish dumb zombies or fast running quick zombies.
You cannot use unreal weapons or weapons you couldnt normally access.
The zombies are NOT supernatural, they use the basic tools a human has except they cannot feel pain.
Zombies can only be killed by breaking the skull or severing the brain, NO OTHER METHODS OF KILLING WORK.
The zombies transmit the virus through body fluid contact, primary method by biting.
They DONT have claws.
This is a massive outbreak. Thousands of zombies pop up across many states and large cities and countries.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________
Ok now for my loadout:
Primary gun: .22 Rifle
Lightweight, small ammo and can carry bricks of it. Not much stopping power but easy to aim since it has a scope that doesnt need batteries. Easy to maintain and clean. Can be slung of a shoulder with a strap.
Siderarm: 9 mm pistol
Small ammo, lightweight large magazine capacity. Stopping power if used in trained hands. doesnt jam often.
Melee: Crowbar
Mid-weight, wide variety of uses besides killing. Lots of stopping power and easy to swing. can be used to jam a door in the need to escape.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________
Against fast zombies:
Shotgun: Loads of stopping power, one shot to the head leaves a zombie spiraling. Mid weight, large ammo, small load capacity. Bulky and loads or kickback if used by a unexpierenced person.
Cricket Bat: Wide flat surface that is very durable, lots of stopping power + long reach. Hard to swing and carry however.
The reason i picked those is to maximize the effectiveness against a quickly closing opponent. Though bulky they would provide good protection.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _________________
For transportation i would pick a mountain bike. Can get you places cars cant and dont require fuel.
Ok people lets hear your ideas, Keep in mind how much weight you can carry and space.

Oh actually I had a lunchtime conversation with a friend of mine across the street, so we've planned it all out basically. I dunno what guns we'd use, but most likely small lightweight pistols. But we all know that guns only last so long before you're outta ammo. So to fix that problem, I'd grab my fake sword and 6 foot aluminum flag pole. He'd grab his actual sword and a chainsaw, and we'd meet up across the street and go until we couldn't last. We'd probably grab a car for temporary travel, but walking (parkour baby) would be the main travel. We'd probably pick up my friend Maggie too, though she's a little further off.

Woo debunking time!
Blank:
Flagpoles are heavy and do little damage when swung, also very hard to tote around. Chainsaws suck ballz. THey require fuel, can break, chain can get stuck, heavy, tire a person out quickly, and are not portable.
EDIT: Sorry i didnt see it was aluminum, still say it wouldnt be very durable though.
Impact:
Please post a serious one.
Blank my house has over 10 guns, and 500 rounds of each guns ammunition stored in a drawer. Also have several handguns spread throughout the house.
Ive got Plywood that can board up the windows in the hurry, measured out specifically for each window. My house would be the best to defend since zombies are dumb and take a long time to climb up stairs. i could take my time while blowing them to hell. I also have a large stockpile of food and water incase of a hurricane, good enough to last a month if needed. My friends would come over and bring food, water, weapons, equipment as well. A car can only get you so far.
Also i would stay away from gun shops as most people tend to flock their to defend so it would be a zombie hole already. also i would park a vehicle in the garage close to the door so they couldnt get in that way and close the garage.
Tried to space things out so it wasnt that hard to read.
Oh im not some loon whos worried the zombie apocalypse is coming either lol. My dad collects and shoots guns. Hes been florida state champion once in the shooting competition.
Although if i had my way i would totally use the RPC Launcher. Ill post a pic of it in a sec.

for longrange on slow zombie's i'd use 30-06 springfield casue the bullets are enough to go through the skull at long distances, also have a hunting knife to hunt for food.
for fast zombies i'd use shotgun pump action and hand grenades
i'd want to be at a gunshop near a grocery store for food, water, ammo, and caffine to keep me awake

lol well, I'd start with my 12 gauge shotgun on the wall with full steel loadouts. Id go to the office grab two 270s and two .22 rifles. Id then make my way to the barn to the upstairs apartment that can only be accessed via ladder and make a whole in one of the rooms to the roof. On the days that I was bored id just enjoy popin off heads that come walking down the highway =p. Now for food.. thats a hard one. A man can't live on nothing. Well, if the area was clear id just pop some of the deer that come into our back field. If i had to make my way to the city, well.. I'd just turn our old suburban into a tank and take off.
If for some reason i couldent make it to the apartment in the barn id just get int he car, go into the small town i live by, get into the firehall *im a volunteer firefighter* and lock things down. I'd get the welder out and start turning our 3 firetrucks into mechs =p.
oh yeah, and I'd carry the .38 in the closet for some wicked protection.
Remember...

Interesting, Id probably load up on water & food. Probably steel some dead persons wireless internet card to and there laptop to keep communication with others.
Primary offense, most likely use some type of auto assault rifle for my primary:
decent mix of range and accuracy.
Secondary offense, most likely a desert eagle:
plenty of kick
Melee, my very own personel katana.
As for defense Id probably rig up a suit that would protect key points of my body,
but still leave me with good movement ability.
As for where I would head, probably pack up a croch rocket and head up north to where
its cold as hell.(the colder the better, alaska would be the ideal place since them *****es would freeze up)

Nah vis the pole is pretty sturdy. Those things can smash into a tuba while being spun with the 2 people going in opposite directions and not get bent.
Oh I'd hope my other friend brought the supposed sniper rifle he bought down so we could just get up on a building and snipe down some zombies.
I think I would go up on top of a tall (couple story) building by the fire escape, and seal up the doors/windows on the bottom floor, and if necessary put explosives on the stairs so the zombies wouldn't be able to get up by stairs or fire escape (I don't care how fast they move, they can't do parkour... Unless it's a David Belle zombie, if it's a David Belle zombie everyone loses.).

I'll take one of everything in this video:
YouTube - Impact Guns Staff Machine Gun Shoot
But, IRL I have a Benelli Nova 12-gauge shotgun that I shoot clays and waterfowl with. I want to try pheasant hunting. I'm getting my 10 year old son a Remmington youth model 20-gauge which I had the opportunity to fire last Monday. It is small, lightweight, and I was hitting stacked pairs consistently off the trap with it. A whole lot of fun with a pump shotgun!
I'd hop in the back of my pickup with my kid and let my wife drive us around and shoot zombies until we ran out of gas or ammo. Interesting enough, I live about 5 miles from Evans City, PA which is where Romero's Night of the Living Dead was filmed. I saw in the local paper that they're planning a Zombie Fest there. I don't know when.

sigh well since it is "weapons you couldn't normally access" i will have a really limited amount to chose from. since i live in Sweden where we only use guns to hunt and to some extent targetpractise, firearms r not readily accessible.
but since u asked i guess i would take my axe and my ghurka knive (more short sword). and since it is only an outbreak and as a such it would be possible to wait out. i would head on down to the fully equipped fallout shelter made for 60 peeps which is located in the basement of my building. there i have fresh water filtered air and food for one month. if the food run out i guess i had to go find more. transportation.. well cars and motorbikes r everywhere u just hot wire them and drive.
If it lasts longer i could always make it to a "mobilization depot" they r scattered around Sweden and it is the place where u r supposed to go to in case of war to get your gear (FNC automatic rifle, glock18 sidearm, bodyarmour, misc gear, rations and personal transportation (normally a bandwagon))
fast or slow zombies would not matter for me since in a state of anarchy i could prolly encounter other hostiles than the zombies so better to be prepared for the worst.
OOO and btw the Rocket propelled chainsaw would be sooo awesome to have ingame!!! make it a one shot throwaway weapon. and i know it dont fit in with the story of the rest of the world, but it was sooo cool

You'd have to loot the body of the guy you killed to get the chainsaw back, and then refuel it. Assuming it didn't break (heh, it would always break on APs, we're so small and it'd go right through and dig right into the ground and break...).

On my free time id build up a killer defence and set up keypoints if i was in a city. If it was like i am legend, id be ready for anything....
I wouldent spend my days driving around, but rather setting up baracades to where the zombies couldent even get on the block i was on. And i would have about two or three of those.

Ugggh the ending of that movie was so bad... How do the zombie vampire things not climb over the "walls" of that "safezone"? I mean they're like maybe 30 feet high, and they're slanted inwards, making them easy to climb. I mean come on, they should all be dead.
