Single Player?
So I'm looking for some good single player PC games to play when I'm not playing EA. I'm a fan of most game types except strategy(I suck at 'em!) Throw some suggestions at me please

Two I would recommend would be Bioshock and Oblivion. Besides that nothing comes to mind really. You could check out... Hellgate London (Single player I believe)?

not sure if I could run bioshock. my comp isn't that great :P
pentium 4 2.6ghz HT
1.5gb ram
radeon x700 128mb vid
I've been seeing hellgate london around. I might check it out.
I recently aquired oblivion(almost done with it), X3 (barely started), and some vampire game that I heard was good but super buggy(haven't started).

I would have to say the Half Life 2 series is pretty good. You can get them through Steam.
Welcome to Steam
There are plenty of mods out there to keep the fun going if you finish them .

Unreal Tournament 3 is pretty damn fun, as is Gears of War for PC and Call of Duty 4 PC
Not sure if your PC could run those very well tho, probably could run them all in lower detail mode pretty nicely

There are quite a few free games that I have played and liked.
AirRivals, America's Army, Combat Arms, F.E.A.R. Combat, True Combat Elite, etc.
Steam is pretty cool too. There are a lot of Demos to check out if you don't want to buy anything. I usually wait for the killer sales Steam has before I buy games from them.
There are other free sites like Kuma and GameTap too.
Sooooooo many options but EA is still at the top of the list.
PS: If you get a game on Steam, get Team Fortress 2. Lots of fast paced team based fun. (Strictly my opinion)
Hmmmm... I guess these may not qualify as single player as most are MMO games with the exception of some of the Kuma episodes and Steam demos.

Ha... I'm such a tightass. I played the Demos for both UT3 and CoD4 and loved em but I'm still waiting for the price to drop.

Oh i forgot about a game that isn't exactly "new", but still awesome : X3 - Reunion.
Look it up on some website to see what it's about.
PS - edit : and last but not least, if you're into the "civilization-alike" games, you have to play Galactic Civilizations 1 & 2 (they're not new or recent either).

hellgate london is cool - higher specs than oblivion though and the singleplayer is just an outdated version of the multiplayer, they make the single player patches months later.

The FEAR trilogy is fun, especially when you play at night by yourself in the dark. Yea tons of fun. Watch out for the little girl.

If you like space sim games.. now dont laugh or attack me...
universal Combat SE.
i have been playing battlecruiser games forever and they are fun. The newer ones are way better and they let you do all kinds of crazy stuff. You *have* to read the manual though or you simply wont be able to play.

Sorted (very loosely) by genre:
Adventure:
Beyond Good & Evil
Grim Fandango
Sam & Max (the episodic ones)
Psychonauts (really a platformer, I guess)
First/third person shooter:
Portal
Max Payne (1 and 2)
Hitman (I only played the most recent one)
Splinter Cell
Half-Life 2
Role-playing game:
Knights of the Old Republic
Jade Empire
Freelancer
Strategy:
Homeworld
Darwinia
Out of those, the must-play games (IMHO) are Grim Fandango and Psychonauts.

I can't believe Rulz didn't mention Monkey Island :-p Well ok it's really old and ugly now, but still, such a hardcore fan...
Max Payne 2 is ten times less good than the first imo.
Hitman series totally rock, all 4 of them. Splinter Cell is pwnd by Hitman (we're talking solo player only).
Freelancer is not really a RPG i think, i rather consider it a space realtime combat game, a very good one (although it's closer to Privateer than Wing Commander, but anyway none of those was an actual rpg :-D)

I'd mention Monkey Island if the 4th one wasn't such an abomination. #1-3 are awesomeness though.
Also, congrats on getting Psychonauts, it is by far the game I've enjoyed the most in the last few years.
